Laurence Dreyfus

Laurence Dreyfus is Professor of Music and Fellow of Magdalen College Oxford. He is a viol player and has research interests including J. S. Bach and Richard Wagner, 18th- and 19th-century music more broadly, English consort music, theories of music analysis, and performance studies. He founded the Phatasm viol quartet in 1994 which has gone to release a number of award-winning records of English consort music.

Laurence's role on Transforming Musicology is as co-investigator responsible for the work on Wagner's leitmotives. He will supervise a doctoral student in collaborating with the computer science contributions to the project in this work. He will also work in close collaboration with Daniel Müllensiefen on the psychological analysis of leitmotives.
